The Bible - New Revised Edition?

Was this really a problem that the Bible isn't conservative enough?  I have to confess to not having heard of Conservapedia - The Trustworthy Encyclopedia before.  Apparently they have decided the Bible is too liberal in its language and so on.  So they are instituting a "retranslation" effort of the Bible to purge it of its liberal bias.  Apparently they are starting with the KJV to remove anything they assume to be too liberal in terms of language, ideas etc.

So now, if you are looking for the actual, unvarnished literal Word-O-God, you will have even more "literal translations" to choose from!

Someone tell me again which literal translation is literally the Word-O-God?

Um...is that directed at me, or the people at Conservapedia?

all versions of the bible are biased one way or another because people wrote them and we all know - people are a problem. I'm not sure how you can get more conservative than KJV.
Maybe they want to remove all that 'love thy neighbor' and 'turn the other cheek' liberal hippy bullshit

That is some pretty radical stuff. Wouldn't want that socialist crap like forgiveness and such creeping in there.

KJV
BTW, has anyone ever read the first page of the King James Version? It's hilarious! You'd think after reading that drivel that the editors/translators of the KJV wanted to put ol' King James right up there on the right hand of God himself!

Talk about brown-nosing your employers...

Huh? We all know the KJV is THE Word of God. The ONLY Word of God. All others are the work of the devil to lead us astray. I know this because the former pastor of my former Baptist church told me so....

Why yes. Yes of course! We all know God spoke in middle English to Adam and well, whoever.

I'm confoosed
So, are these the same people that get mad at us Mormons for claiming that we believe "the bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly..." (article of faith 8, Pearl of Great Price)

*Sigh*

Why yes. Is this a problem?

But you are one of them thar satin worshipers. Or is it Santa worshipers? I can never keep that straight (I don't much care for satin myself. Too slippery).

By the way, I was unfamiliar with that particular article. Seems pretty wise to me. Then again, as you well know, of all the Christian faiths (yeah, I know), yours seems to make the most sense to me.

Shhh...don't tell the nice folks at Conservapedia. They'll burn us both at the stake!

Creeds and declarations
Just for reference, so you know where that quote comes from... There's a document we Mormons call "The Articles of Faith". Its as close to a Credo as we get: http://scriptures.lds.org/en/a_of_f/1

At first glance, they might seem pretty innocuous, but there are quite a few of them that get us labeled as heretics, like #8, #9, the last half of #3, and even, in some interpretations, #1.

But that's all topics for another thread, on another forum. I don't mean to hijack, even though I guess I did, anyway...

"I don't mean to hijack..."

Careful! That stuff will get you voted off the island!

How does Article #1 get you labeled as a heretic? Or #9 for that matter? Isn't there some book in the Bible called, um... "Revelations"?

Yeah, you guys are really out there. Y'all need a pope or something to keep you on the straight and narrow.

Oops. I forgot. The Big C's are all heretics too. Bother.
